Back to the Lanes

September 2nd, 2008

Well here it is September already and everyone is back from holidays and our youth bowlers are back to school. Its time to dust off the shoes and get back to the lanes if you haven’t already been doing some practising at your local centre. Proprietors have been busy over the summer months getting everything checked out so that we can once again go out and have some fun and enjoyment at our local centres.

I have been asked by the proprietors to get the web site up and going for another season and I will be getting all the changes made on the site over the next couple of weeks. I would ask all the Proprietors, Program Directors and Zone reps to please email me ASAP a confirmation of their contact information so that we can get everything updated. There are a few changes so please get them in to me as soon as possible at publicity@bowlmanitoba.ca.

Speaking of changes the BPAM has their new executive elected and again I will have this updated in the very near future, but in the mean time I will pass on their names and positions, so that if you need to talk to them you can contact the right person. President this year is Trevor Peters from Thunderbird Bowl in Brandon, 1st Vice (YBC Provincial Chair) is Mike Devenney from St. James Lanes in Winnipeg, 2nd Vice is Dave Mansell from Minnedosa Bowl, in Minnedosa , Treasurer is Rusty Miller from Dakota Bowling Lanes, Winnipeg and Secretary is Cam Boon from Polo Park Bowling Centre, also in Winipeg. Please feel free to contact any of these gentlemen at any time if you have any questions about the Bowling Proprietors Assoc. of Manitoba.

You will also notice that there has been a major change on score reporting this year on the Manitoba website. This year we will only report on the Provincial hi scores on the site, under Aound the Province. We are asking the program Directors to submit to us every 4 to 5 weeks their hi singles, doubles, triples doubles and averages of the top 4 boys and girls in each division and we will keep a provincial hi record of scores. All YBC Bowlers are reminded to go to www.youthbowling.ca where they can go online and register and submit their scores each week after bowling. This is a National site developed by the BPAC and Youth Bowling Canada where all our youth bowlers can go and not only enter their scores but check on bowlers from BC to Nfld to see how others are doing. It is a great site and thanks to Kevin Burns from Youth Bowling Canada on getting it up and running.

Also I am hoping to hear from our provincial federation office very shortly on the 2008-09 Calendar of Events. Once recieved I will get our site totally up to date.

That’s about it for now. Hopefully as I mentioned things should be up and running with in the next 2 weeks, so please be patient. Don’t forget to get out and contact your local bowling centre to sign up for your leagues as most will be starting up right away. Have a great season.
