Provincial Winners Head to National Finals
March 11th, 2009
This past weekend saw the conclusion of the Youth Bowling Canada "4 Steps to Stardom" Provincials. The Ten Pin Finals were held at Salle de quille La Verandrye Lanes on Feb 28th while the 5 Pin finals were held March 7th at Dakota, St. Vital, and Coronation Bowling Lanes. Both events ran extremely well thanks to the help of all the Proprietors, their staff and their great group of Volunteers .
Results are now all posted on our provincial website and we hope to have pictures of the winners as well as some candid shots on the Photo Gallery by the 14th of March.
The bowlers and coaches now head to Toronto May 1st to compete May 2,3,and 4 in the Youth Bowling Canada National Championships. The National YBC site is presently busy updating all the information that you will need in order to enjoy yourself at this great event. Hotel reservation and transportation information is already posted. All you have to do is go to www.youthbowling.ca and follow the links. Check there often as information will be continually added and also to insure that you can get your accommodation, transportation and events tickets. You definitely want to book early.
Next on the YBC Provincial Calendar of Events is the HI–LO Doubles Event. The zone finals will be held the weekend of March 15th, while the Provincial Finals will take place March 29th at Minnedosa Bowl, in Minnedosa , Mb.
In 10 Pin news March 14th and 15th will see the National Finals for the "AMF 10 Pin World Cup" take place in Laval P.Q. Good Luck to Lynne Gauthier and Michael Schmidt who will be representing Manitoba.
April will see more Provincial Championships as the TSN 5 Pin Provincial Finals will be held at St James Lanes on April 4th, and the 10 Pin Finals will be rolled at Chateau Lanes on April 25th. Meanwhile out in Brandon the 10 Pin “ National Classified” Provincials will be hosted by Thunderbird Bowl, on April 4th. The 5 Pin “National Classifieds” will be held April 18th at Dakota (Ladies Teams) and Billy Mosienko Lanes( Men’s Teams).
That’s it for now. Just a reminder this is the 100th Anniversary of 5 Pin bowling this year, call a friend, a neighbor, or a relative and invite them out to bowl. Let’s all celebrate our great Sport of Bowling.
Finally “GOOD LUCK” to all competitors as you compete in all your events and remember to check back for the results of these events both at the Bowl Manitoba and Bowl Canada websites.
